Pefect Lemon Tart

I tried this tart - from Luscious Lemon Desserts for Christmas dinner. The filling is tart/sweet and a lovely texture, but the base is a little hard even though Hubby liked it that way.
Sometimes a meal turns out just the way you want it - you know what I mean? And this Christmas was the one! Turkey with gravy, Stuffins made in muffin tins with cranberries, turnip puff, Creamy mashed potatoes, green beans, pickled beets, and salad with home made dressing - delicious. And the company made it perfect. All together a great Christmas was had by all. Have a Happy New Year, and look for the next addition. Cheerio, Linda

Christmas quilting

Here is a table topper I made for my Mom-in-law. The pattern was given to us in our Quilters' Guild newsletter. I machine pieced it and hand quilted it. The center star is gold lame' and there are stars quilted in the spaces in variegated thread. Since it was a bit plain I added flowered binding.

Buttery lemon shortbread

Today in a hurry to get some to my Mom-in-law, I made the buttery lemon shortbread. It was very easy and turned out delicious, with a grainy texture from the cornstarch, with just a hint of lemon flavour.

Inspired by Julie and Julia

Well I finally have decided to start. The Meryl Streep movie Julie and Julia has inspired me to bake my way through a wonderful lemon dessert book called "Luscious Lemon Desserts" by Lori Longbotham. The first one I tried was the triple lemon cheesecake. It was a little time consuming but well worth the effort. My "Elizabeths" just love it and bribe me with lunches at their place to have me make it for all of us.

I must explain "Elizabeths". I have a group of friends that almost all are called some form of Elizabeth. There is a Libby, a Liz, an Elisabeth (with an s), an Elizabeth and last but not least an Ann-Margret.

Somehow these wonderful ladies have accepted me into their group because I shared their name for a very brief period of the first three weeks of my life - another story.
So on to the next recipe. I am going to try the perfect lemon tart for Christmas dessert with friends.
